RCCMP was established in 2010, uniting the Laboratory of Molecular Acoustics, which had been operating for more than 40 years (founded by a well-known specialist in the field of ultrasound research Prof. N.F. Otpushchennikov) and the Department of Theoretical Physics, transformed from the corresponding university’s department. From the moment of its establishment till 2025. RCCMP was headed by Prof. Y.A. Neruchev. Since 2025, the acting Head of the RSCMP is the Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics, Prof. E.B. Postnikov.

Areas of research:

• in the field of experiment: study of thermodynamic properties of organic and ionic liquids over a wide range of state parameters by ultrasonic and thermophysical methods, including using a unique high-pressure facility, biophysical studies of non-statiory processes in liquids and soft condensed media based on optical methods.
• in the field of theory: physical thermodynamics of liquids at high pressures; mathematical modelling of seltf-sustained oscillations and waves in application to problems of biophysics, including neuroscience, kinetic processes in physical chemistry and biophysics, including problems of population dynamics and epidemiology, transport processes in complex media, development of computational methods and software for analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
